Opening CPT Files

CPTFile Extension CPT
File extension: CPT

What is a CPT file

CPT files mostly belong to PHOTO-PAINT by Corel. A CPT file usually contains a multi-layer image edited with PHOTO-PAINT raster graphics editor. This CPT file contains all the layers, color modes, alpha channels, and graphical data of a photo that is being edited in PHOTO-PAINT. It is usually exported to other formats (e.g. JPG) upon completion. Delta Force video game saves converted poly terrain data in a CPT file. Ccrypt file encryption program uses a CPT file to store encrypted archives. Another type of CPT file is used to store encrypted memo data in dBASE database management system. CPT is also the filename extension of an audio file saved in DTS (Digital Theatre Systems) format. This CPT file is mainly used to store audio in compact disc and theatre applications. It contains high quality audio, timecode, and metadata. CPT audio format is obsolete.

How to open CPT files

You need a suitable software like PHOTO-PAINT to open a CPT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CPT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CPT file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

CPT file format:

Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the CPT files:

The CPT file type is a very commonly used file extension and predominantly uses a uniform format. The file formats most commonly found in CPT files are:

All other CPT files (19%) have no consistent format. They are often associated with document or whatsapp. If you want to find out which format your CPT file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .cpt file to view this image".

a cpt image is a special file format by Corel and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.

How to solve problems with CPT files

  • Associate the CPT file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open images. Because only the current version supports the latest CPT file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Corel manufacturer website after an available PHOTO-PAINT update.
  • To make sure that your CPT file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .CPT file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
