What is a DSW file?

DSW files mostly belong to Visual C++ by Microsoft. DSW is the file extension for a workspace file used by earlier versions of Visual C++. Visual C++ is a C, C++ and C++/CX compiler developed by Microsoft that was earlier available as a standalone software, and now comes as part of Visual Studio, which is an integrated development environment (IDE) that supports a large number of programming languages and application types. Developer Studio is a development environment in Visual C++ that had a unique tiled layout of non-overlapping panels that included a navigation panel, combination editor/source level debugger panel, and console output panel. Its layout was continued with subsequent versions of Visual C++, as well as in Visual Studio. The DSW format is for a Developer Studio workspace file that stores user workspace settings. These settings describe the current state of the interface, including the size and position of open windows and palettes. This allows the user to return to the same interface layout at a later time.

How to open a DSW file

You need a suitable software like Visual C++ to open a DSW file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
